TCRIC Quarterly Report: October 2016

The Tuscaloosa County Road Improvement received its first deposit from tax revenues in September 2016 (from July 2016 collections) in the amount of $622,600.00. The Commission anticipates monthly deposits in a substantially similar amount moving forward. The Commission does not anticipate the issuance of any bonds to the Commission in the fourth quarter of 2016 but will continue to pursue any and all available local, state, and federal funding mechanisms for priority project completion.

The Commission has identified its initial set of priority projects to be funded pursuant to the provisions of Act 2015- 202(HB 600: Transforming Tuscaloosa Infrastructure.) In addition to beginning its reimbursement to the City of Northport for the Mitt Lary Road improvement project, the 2017 projects to be initiated are:

- Intersection improvements at Bear Creek Cutoff Road and US 82/McFarland;
- US-82 improvements from Midtown Village through and including the Hargrove Road intersection;
- Improvements to the intersection of SR-69N and Martin Road;
- Realignment and intersection improvements to the intersection of SR-69 and Union Chapel Road.

The City of Tuscaloosa has also agreed to undertake the management of the Jack Warner Parkway/Martin Luther King Boulevard Improvements and the McWrights Ferry Road Improvement Project. The Commission has agreed to reimburse the City for these project costs amortized over an extended repayment period.

The Commission entered into a joint funding agreement with ALDOT to provide for the funding of certain priority projects over the next six years between the two entities.
